About Me & My Portfolio

“An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.”

Benjamin Franklin

Hello! My name is Taylor Parks and I am a senior at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. I am a public health major with a passion for maternal and reproductive health. During my time at Agnes Scott College, I have dedicated most of my focus in Public Health to maternal, child, and reproductive health.

I am originally from Lilburn, Georgia, where I graduated from Parkview High School in 2017. From the moment I stepped foot on Agnes Scott’s campus at the Just for Juniors event, I immediately fell in love. I was immediately drawn by Agnes Scott’s SUMMIT curriculum, which promised to present students with opportunities for forward-thinking and innovation. It became very clear to me that Agnes Scott would be a great fit for me for the next four years.

During my four-year journey at Agnes Scott College, I have taken a myriad of courses including Maternal and Reproductive Health (PH 226) and Reproductive Ethics & Religion (REL 395) while completing various projects concerning different subject matters in reproductive health. I have also previously assisted with a directed research project, where I worked with a small team of students to evaluate different aspects that affect an individual’s pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences. Currently, I am assisting with another research project where I am helping evaluate the health effects of residential displacement on Atlanta citizens living in the Grove Park neighborhood.

While attending Agnes Scott College, I have remained relatively connected with my peers and have participated in student organizations such as the Student Government Association (SGA) and Honor Court. I also worked as a Chemistry Tutor at Agnes Scott’s Resource Center for Math and Science for two years. Throughout my four year journey at Agnes Scott, I have remained engaged with my community through my employment experiences. I have previously worked as a marketing assistant and direct support professional. Currently, I am an Office Aide for an Atlanta-based physical therapy clinic. My plans for the future include obtaining a Master’s degree in public health along with a Ph.D. and eventually working as a nonprofit leader.
